The JRS aims to put refugee children with special needs in Burundi back into school.

In 2020, Burundi saw the arrival of over 77,000 refugees, mainly Congolese people who had fled from the multiple crises that afflicted the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. They settled mainly in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura, where the JRS supports the schooling of students with disabilities in specialised institutions and promotes the inclusion of refugee students the education system.
